About

I’m a writer, fitness fanatic, passionate about living a lifestyle of sustainable health and fitness. I’ve spent many years in the Financial Services Industry, acquired all the credentials, MBA in Finance, and several licenses. But my true nature pushed through. We all have some inkling of our true selves when we are children. I did. I have the soul and mind of an artist. Professionally trained as a dancer, athletically gifted, I’ve never left that side of me, just channeled my talent to other areas.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is ballet-slippers.jpgThe dancer in me is forever yearning to move. I’ve channeled that thirst into fitness. I hung up my ballet slippers for a pair of running shoes and became a fitness enthusiast. I’ve challenged my body and completed ten marathons, domestic and international, and countless races.

Running shoesI can’t start my day without a sweaty run, and thirty minutes or more of stretching my muscles beyond limits with yoga. I’ve been a vegan for many years, but I have my foibles. I can’t start my day without one or two, sometimes three cups of coffee.

I’ve been an avid reader and writer for years. I’ve written four novels: Keepers of the Gate: Twilight Ends (Book One), Kalorama Road, By Chance, Chasing Victoria. Four supernatural short stories: Ravine Lereux, Off The Grid, The Playground, and Rebound.  And a new novella series: Tainted Harvest: Simone Doucet Series (Book One). Writing has been a challenge, and like a marathon, it takes preparation and mental tenacity to complete the journey.

My books are published by Next Chapter Publishing, all available at Amazon.com.

  1. Hi Denise,
Thanks for the follow. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your about. I could definitely relate in many ways. I one hundred percent feel knowledge is so powerful – stress this to my children constantly. I too believe we’re always searching for the ‘true us’ and I explore aspects of my personality through food, although I work in finance myself. That’s actually in my Instagram profile”cooking is my artistic expression.” 😃 My husband too is a writer – I look forward to reading more of your posts.

    1. Hi Veganrescue! It’s great you have a means to express yourself artistically. We all need that outlet in this stressful world, especially if you have little ones to care for. I’m looking forward to visiting your site for new vegan dishes. Love to experiment, although I’m not the best of cooks. But your recipes look awesome can’t wait. 🙂

    1. Hahaha, I wish I had all that energy! Veganism is tough in a society where meat, and dairy is the norm. But after so many years it comes easy. Thanks for welcoming to the team and I look forward to working with all the wonderful writers on the team!

ps – I used to live in NY and ran the NYC marathon in 2001. It was an incredible experience.

    1. Please forgive me for getting back to you so late. It’s been a hectic month. The marathons are a blast and New York has such a wonderful crowd and runners to cheer you on. Are you running New York again or any other marathon?

      1. Hi! That’s ok, I completely appreciate that. 🙂
I don’t foresee running another marathon soon, though I’m considering running a half-marathon in May or so!

How about you? What’s in your heart to do for yourself this year??
        Blessings,
        Debbie

      2. Thanks for the response! Half marathons are a great distance run. Not too far but just the right amount of endurance. I’ve been running and training but no plans for a marathon in the near future just the marathon to finish my next novel. Good luck with the half@ And I can’t wait to be inspire by your wonderful blog!
