Happy Juneteenth!

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”

Great Books By Black Authors

In honor of Juneteenth, I am celebrating amazing black authors. The list below comprises my reading goal for Summer 2021. I’ve read many of the prominent author’s novels and plan to revisit them:

  • Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
  • Beloved by Toni Morrison
  • I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
  • Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
  • Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
  • American Marriage by Tayari Jones

I am eager to explore recent bestsellers, which I’d planned to read in the past but never got around to them. Peruse the list below. Perhaps you will discover a few of interest for your summer reading.
