Daily Prompt

It Evades Me

Mind EnergyPhoto: Courtesy of www.moreintelligent.com

It sits tastelessly on my tongue

Ephemerally unformed

It escapes me

Hidden in recesses of my memory

Teasing and testing my patience

Rendering me lost in mid-sentence

A, B, C . . . X, Y, Z

Articulated

Hoping cerebral recollection of characters

Force

The intangible from my brain

Darn

It just won’t come

It escapes me again

Oh, how annoying

It was just there recently

Fingers tapping, eyes squinting

Furrowed brow

Distractions and musings

Hoping the misplaced will appear

Magically

It doesn’t

Frustrated, I opt for the equivalent

Bold and highlighted bright yellow

To be revisited when

That elusive word slips from my tongue . . .

    1. Thank you for posting all the wonderful blogs on Elusive and for including mine. I love them all. What a great way to discovery other sites I might have overlooked.

    1. Imani, thank you. I’ve never really been one to write poetry, mostly novels and short stories. The daily prompts are giving me a chance to be a little creative. I must say I also enjoy your post. So deep and meaningful!

      1. I never try the prompts but maybe I will 🙂 Fiction is also not something I ever even try. It’s good to challenge yourself. I need to swear less when I write and use proper words like you do 🙂 I like your blog design too. Mutual appreciation society 😀

      2. Hahaha! We need support in the blog world. Don’t stop swearing. It shows the depth of your emotion. It’s your space to express you, so do it the way you have to. I need to swear a little more. 🙂

      3. Haha, more fucking swearing. I’ll teach you how 👍 The English Language is so pretty, but swearing has more immediate impact I guess. I’m a highly emotional soul, so my words reflect that intensity, that’s what I’ll tell myself anyway ❤ 💛
