Writer’s Update

Hi Everyone,

It’s June, and I haven’t met my goal of posting once a week. Sorry, but life is so unpredictable at the moment. But there’s one constant, writing, writing, writing. I’ve made much headway with my WIP, Echoes of Ballard House, and hope to finish the final draft by the fall of 2023.

Meanwhile, I have some great promos to show you this month. Catch them before the month ends, June 30, 2023.

Conversation With My Main Character

Simone has been busy settling into a two-month house-sitting gig at Ballard House. I caught up with her to see how her first day went.

Simone, how’s your day going?

Well, if you must ask, my first day house-sitting at Ballard House has been trying. In less than an hour, I’ve had bloody visions of an axe-wielding murderer. So, I retreated to the backyard to relax in the pool and enjoy the lemon trees, but a downpour sent me racing indoors. Anxiously, I scarfed down chocolate crepes and olives with a red-wine-berry spritzer when a bang, bang, clink, clink, wisp, wisp, wisp scared the crap out of me.

What do you think it was?

I think there’s something behind the walls.

Why do you think that?

I found several strange panels throughout the home. I think the owners sealed them for a reason.

So what did you do?

I needed to calm my mind, so I retreated to a luxurious jetted tub to relax, fell asleep, and woke from near drowning by a ghost vanishing over me.

Jeez! That’s scary

Then guess what?

More noise?

No. The buzzer rang downstairs. A guest already. I hopped from the tub, threw on a sheer dress, and rushed to the front door with damp hair, finding a green-eyed hunk staring at my chest. Okay, in my defense, I had no time to pull on undergarments. But it’s nice to have company. Okay. Then I thought the day could only get better. Right?

Yes, I hope.

Wrong. As we enjoyed drinks on the back porch, the owner’s pet parrot escaped through the door into the backyard. I collided with my new friend, who thwarted my fall over the porch rail as we scrambled to catch the blasted bird. Now I have a nasty bruise and pain in my lower back. Phew! Tell me the rest of my stay at Ballard House gets better from here.

Wow. I hope you caught the bird.

That’s another story for later.

Oh, sounds stressful.

Yeah, well, then my visitor left. I’m alone again, my first night in the house, and dreading sleeping on the haunted second floor.

Darn!

What?

I forgot to arm the security system. You care to follow as I check the cameras on the computer?

Sure. That’s a lot of rooms.

It’s a colossal place, with cameras everywhere. What was that!?

What did you see?

There’s someone in the house? Jeez, give me a break!
